This program was designed to help the learner of Japanese to quickly recall times. Saying times in Japanese quickly, for me, is a hard thing to do. There are a few things in Japanese that you do not want to screw up saying or hearing; time is one of them.
Nanji is not designed to teach you how to tell time in Japanese, but rather reenforce what you already know.
There are two modes to helping you learn: Speaking and Listening.
The Speaking exercise will display a random time and give you an opportunity to
say the time to yourself in Japanese before the answer is displayed on the screen
and a native Japanese-speaking voice says the time. This program does not record
and analyze your voice -- it is up to you to decide if what you said was correct.
The Listening exercise will display the answer first, you have to type in the time
that was said. Score is kept in this mode.
It's important to note again that this program uses hiragana as well as the
voice of a native Japanese speaker for the answer. This is an excellent
way to make sure you're pronoucing the times correctly.
The font file MSMincho is included in the installation and is needed to display
the hiragana answers.
Requirements:
- Windows 98SE or greater (in theory... I've only tested on Windows XP Pro SP2)
- .NET Framework 2.0
